Audra Mcdonald is a unique artist in terms of her versatility and range of her talent as an actress and a vocalist. She was the recipient of record-breaking 6 Tony Awards as well as two Grammy Awards and the Emmy Award. She was also selected as a result of Time magazine among the 100 most influential people, and she was also awarded her the National Medal of Arts - the most prestigious honor given in America in recognition of artistic excellence as awarded by President Barack Obama. With an unbeatable soprano beauty and a knack of dramatizing the truth the roles she plays in Broadway or the opera have the same aplomb with roles in film as well as on TV. As well as her theatrical job, she is also pursuing been a busy musician and recording artist. She performs regularly in the best venues of the world. A musically inclined family, McDonald lived living in Fresno California and received her traditional vocal education at New York's Juilliard School. The year 1994 was the year following her graduation from the Juilliard School, McDonald was awarded the Tony Award for "Best Performance by a Lead Actress in Musical" for Carousel. She made Broadway history and became the Tony Awards most decorated performer with the sixth Tony Award in the role of Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill the role that was also used as the basis for her Olivier Award nominated 2017 debut on London's West End. Additionally, she set the record for the most successful wins for an actor, she was also the first actor to be awarded honors in the four categories of acting. Her theater credits comprise The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (99) Henry IV (2005) 110 in the Shade (2006) Twelfth Nacht (2009) the latter of which was the Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park premier show, which is Shuffle Along or The Making of the Musical sensation from 1921 & Everything That Followed (2017) Frankie and Johnny in Clair de Lune (2018) and Ohio State Murders 2023. McDonald was first introduced to the public via television as a dramatic actor in Peabody Award winning CBS's Having Our Say:"The Delany Sisters first 100 years. In the following years, she co-starred with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber in the highly acclaimed 1999 remake by ABC and Disney of Annie and then in 2000 she had a recurring role on the NBC's cult series Law & Order Special Victims Unit. After receiving her first Emmy nomination for her performance on the HBO film version of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit, written by Mike Nichols and starring Emma Thompson McDonald returned to the network's television program in 2003 for the drama about politics Mister Sterling, produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. and which starred Josh Brolin. McDonald joined The Bedford Diaries on the WB program The Bedford Diaries in early the year 2006. The following season, she played one of the characters on NBC's television show Kidnapped. McDonald won a 4th Emmy for her performance as Lady Day in Emerson's Bar and Grill, which aired on HBO in the year 2016. McDonald starred along with Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale in The Bite a six-episode pandemic-themed drama co-produced through Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios in 2021. She first appeared on the show as U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in the year 2009 on CBS's legal drama The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald took on the role (now called Liz Reddick) as a regular on the season of The Good Fight on Paramount+ receiving the three Critics Choice Award nominations for her role. The actress also appears in Julian Fellowes's historical drama The Gilded Age.
